Day three was hell, and day four is pretty rough, too. I have a list of symptoms from head to toe, but I’ll spare you all the gory details and just mention a few of the most annoying things.
gastric reflux—ow! The fires of hell are burning my esophagus.
painful feet—it’s very hard to walk on pins and needles and the occasional razor.
jaw and neck pain—this is a weak point for me anyway.
scalp sore—is my hair falling out already?
diarrhea—OK, that’s embarrassing.
Day three, I rested at Ariella’s house in the morning and Kai was a very cuddly baby. He’s already got great timing. In the afternoon I had hours of fabulous treatments—acupuncture, lbg, massage, moxa. Jeff has become very, very good with massage, lbg, and moxa. Of course my acupuncture comes from that famous guy, “Dan Nevel.”
Dan is the kindest and most compassionate person known to humankind. His healing abilities are legendary, but only I get to have incredible therapeutic massage when I wake up in pain at 3am. Not to mention the fabulous miso soup that he made me for dinner last night. How on EARTH would I get through this without him?
This morning Brigitte came over to give me a one hour moxa treatment, and that gave me the strength to sit up and write this. Thanks Brigitte! I have radiation at 2pm (then two days off!) and then I’m going to Marty Dayton’s office for an infusion of IV vitamin C.
I’ll post later on how the IV vit C is going to help with the chemo.
