hair today . . .Views: 53

Today was the big hair day—now you see it, now you don’t! Yesterday morning I looked in the mirror and thought my hair was looking pretty good. Right after the chemo it was straw and my scalp was aching, so I thought my hair was about to come out any second. Since then, though, I found some useful scalp treatments (first dandruff shampoo for the rash that developed and then a new organic neem shampoo that is quite lovely)and my hair and scalp seemed quite recovered. Yesterday morning’s examination convinced me that I could hang on to my hair a little longer and not follow through on the plan to shave it today.

Last night, however, saw some radical change—ALL my hair (and I mean all) started to fall out, quite rapidly in some, ahem, areas. Back to the original plan for today’s hair ritual.

I’ve been making all kinds of head plans. The first step was a couple weeks ago when Ariella cut my hair short and dyed the front purple. I figured that if I was going to lose my hair soon, I might as well have some fun! The picture of my purple hair appears on my home page.

Step two was, once the hair started falling out, to first cut my hair into a mohawk so I could take photos with my mohawk grandson, and then (step three) to shave it completely.

I brought along one of my beautiful scarves that Leslie McKnight gave me, but after all was said and done, I decided not to cover my head. I like the way it looks! It was a beautiful breezy day in Miami today, and the wind in my hair ? ! ? ! felt divine. Now I just have to be careful not to get a sunburn.

hipgrandma? more like hotgrandma! you look gorgeous! love the bald look.
love, ariella

aye aye…second that! you are gorgeous jane…always have been inside and out. always will be without a doubt.
